Former Taraba APC Chairman and current Chairman of the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, has called on politicians to uphold the fear of God, honesty and internal democracy in order to deepen Nigeria’s democracy and promote national development. Speaking in his Democracy Day message, El-Sudi noted that while Nigeria has made considerable progress in democratic governance, there is still room for greater development. He urged political parties to ensure fairness and internal democracy, warning that imposition and injustice could create discontent among members. He also emphasized the need for sacrifice and accountability in leadership, reminding public office holders that they would one day account for their actions before God. The former Taraba APC chairman further wished President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, wisdom and success in leading the country and the state. According to him, justice, fairness and the entrenchment of internal democracy within political parties are essential to boosting voters’ confidence and strengthening democratic governance in Nigeria.
