The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has congratulated Nigerians, particularly the people of Gombe State, on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration. In a goodwill message issued by his Media Aide, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, Gwamna said the country’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule had recorded significant achievements worthy of celebration. He noted that the nation’s democratic journey had helped to strengthen democratic institutions and positioned Nigeria as the largest democracy in Africa. The APC governorship candidate commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as courageous reforms aimed at repositioning the country’s economy. According to him, “Nigeria has made some impressive progress, particularly under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, who, through courage, is building a future for Nigerians and restructuring areas that needed urgent economic surgical operations for the country to survive.” Gwamna urged Nigerians to remain committed to democratic ideals and support ongoing economic and security initiatives towards building a prosperous and peaceful nation. He said, “I urge Nigerians to remain steadfast in democratic principles and support the government’s economic reforms and national security efforts towards building an economically viable country and a peaceful society. We must uphold unity and wholeheartedly commit ourselves to prayers, seeking Almighty Allah’s divine intervention in our collective resolve to build a better state.” He also saluted Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for what he described as transformational leadership and visible dividends of democracy in Gombe State. According to him, Governor Inuwa Yahaya is “a leader who has defined good governance for the people to see, feel and touch through massive infrastructural development, improved security, economic growth, while building a business environment that has contributed to the growth of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the state.” Gwamna said the progress recorded in health, agriculture, infrastructure, education, youth empowerment and
industrialisation was evidence of quality leadership in the state. He further attributed the achievements to the resilience of the people, support from traditional and religious institutions, sound government policies and the backing of the Federal Government. The APC governorship candidate appealed to women and youths to participate actively in the country’s democratic process to ensure inclusive development. He also urged eligible citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections. “I therefore urge all those who have not registered or collected their Permanent Voter Card to do so and get involved in leadership positions during the forthcoming 2027 general elections,” he said. Gwamna further called on Nigerians to preserve the country’s democratic gains through peaceful coexistence. “We must protect our democracy by staying away from violence and embracing peace for our collective good as a people,” he added. The statement was signed by Ibrahim Sani Shawai, Media Aide to the Gombe State APC governorship candidate.
